Hauppauge WinTV Go with Suse 9.2?

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a Hauppauge WinTV Go for use with Suse 9.2 and was wondering if anyone had had success with this combination. Also which tv cards have people got to work with suse 9.2. thanks

you'll have no problems at all. well... i can't promise you won't personally, but technically it's a safe bet. Note that the wintv go cards have changed the chipset though, which is much more important than the model itself. older ones use the bt878 chip, newer ones i *think* tend to use the saa7124? either way the support is fine.

thanks. Do you know whether its likely to work 'out of the box' or will I need to recompile the kernal or something else complicated first?

there's never a need to recompile, unless you've an old distro and a newer chipset, "old" is probably 2 years now. you might need to fiddle with the driver a little if it's a slightly unusual implementation of a board, the details for which you should fine at bytesex.org. personally i've never had to do that sort of thing, but then i've normally had wintv-go's on a bt878 chip, which is abaout as standard as you could get.

Configuring the WinTV GO model 607

I have bought a Hauppage WinTV Go (model 607) but am having difficulty getting it to work. Yast incorrectly recognises the card as a "Winfast TV2000 XP" which is in fact made by another manufacturer. dmesg reveals the following
"Linux video capture interface: v1.00
cx8800: Unknown parameter `cx8800'
cx2388x v4l2 driver version 0.0.4 loaded
ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:0a.0[A] -> GSI 10 (level, low) -> IRQ 10
cx88[0]: subsystem: 0070:3401, board: Hauppauge WinTV 34xxx models [card=1,autodetected]
cx88[0]: hauppauge eeprom: model=34705, tuner=Temic 4066FY5 (18), radio=no
cx88[0]/0: found at 0000:00:0a.0, rev: 5, irq: 10, latency: 32, mmio: 0xdd000000
tuner: Ignoring new-style parameters in presence of obsolete ones
"

When I use Yast to try and scan for channels I am not able to find any. I live in England so I'm trying "PAL" and "europe-west" as the search parameters but a dialog is returned saying "PAL: not found". When I try "PAL-N", "PAL-NC" and "PAL-M" with "europe-west" a long list of channels is scanned but none are found. I have tried this with the "Winfast TV2000 XP" that yast recognised and also again when I manually selected the card type and the same result was achieved.

I've noticed that KDETV only accepts PAL and NTSC and not PAL-N, etc.

Please could someone explain to me what I need to do to get channels recognised or configure the card correctly? Am I right in thinking that I need to use PAL or is it supposed to be PAL-(M,N,NC)?

Thanks in advance.
