Hello,
I have SUSE 10 and an HVR1100 Hauppauge card that doesn't work out of the box. This hybrid DVB-T card apparently won't be supported prior to Linux Kernel 2.6.16 because the v4l patches for the HVR1100 conexant chip haven't been accepted before that release. So here are my options : 1) upgrade my SUSE kernel to 2.6.16 which still isn't stabilized 2) try to patch the existing kernel and/or v4l ??? what do I patch? Don't I have to do something to the v4l as well? 3) wait until the version 2.6.16 makes it to a future release of SUSE, perhaps in 10.1 but who knows...
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me which way to go and how exactly do go about doing it? Can I upgrade my kernel without running into problems (I'm using the SUSE default SMP kernel on an x64 machine)? Where recent kernel release should I get? Will SUSE release 10.1 take into account this card? I've found this french site that describes how a person managed to get it to work but it involved kernel recompiling and upgrade:

I've recompiled my kernel a long time ago and I remembered it was rather time consuming and a potentially hazardous process.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
