Hauppauge-250 card gives ' cannot open capture device /dev/video0 ' message
Hello,
I have tried repeatedly to get my Hauppauge (250) TV card to work under FC5 (by the way I have had the same problem previously with FC3, and 4) and everytime I start the TV GUI utility I get the message ( No such file or direcory, cannot open capture device /dev/video0 ) at the bottom of the screen. I have even tried running the 'ls' command and have noticed that the file actually does not exist:
[root@xxxx ~]# ls /dev/video0
ls: /dev/video0: No such file or directory
but when I run the 'modprobe' command I get:
[root@xxxx ~]# modprobe bttv
[root@xxxx ~]# lsmod | grep bttv
bttv 167861 0
video_buf 21829 1 bttv
compat_ioctl32 1473 1 bttv
i2c_algo_bit 8393 1 bttv
v4l2_common 7745 1 bttv
btcx_risc 4809 1 bttv
ir_common 9412 1 bttv
tveeprom 13905 1 bttv
videodev 9409 1 bttv
i2c_core 21057 5 bttv,i2c_algo_bit,tveeprom,nvidia,i2c_viapro
showing that yes indeed the bttv 'driver' is loaded and recognized.
But nevertheless nothing seems to work, can somebody please advise me as to how to resolve this problem.
