Has anyone tried kernel 2.6.8 and Via eden CPU?

Hello all,

Has anyone tried kernel 2.6.8 on Via's Eden processor? I tried 2.6.7 on both fedora core 2 and slackware 10, but it would just constantly reboot when it got part way through loading the kernel.

I'm wondering if this has been addressed in 2.6.8?

The heck of it is, I remember reading something about this about a month ago on slashdot when they did the story on the release of fedora core 3 test 1. Someone else had this exact problem. Couldn't find the post again, though. :-(

And I did indeed google for this, and try the LQ search. Then again, I'm not a search god, so likely someone will write back with a link that was at the top of the search list.

But I tried, darn it! :-)

Thanks in advance,

tmd

Hmmm, well I know very little about cute little mini-itxs, a friend bought one which I put together from him, I installed Slackware 9.1 at the time and it ran fine.

However, I put:

"via eden" 2.6.7 into Google

One of the pages was: Debian GNU/Linux (sid) on the VIA Epia Eden CL-6000

Kernel
In order to avoid a lot of patching, I decided to use a 2.6 kernel even though I hesitated because it should become a stable and reliable system. So far I'm not disappointed with my choice. Here's my config-2.6.8 in case you want to have a look at it.
Well, you could give it a shot with 2.6.8.1, hopefully it'll work!

Best of luck,

Steve
