I installed red Hat Linux 9 a while ago, using Partition magic, then I deleted it, but the partition labeled * is still there, and it is 47 gigabytes! It won't delete, and it won't resize, WHAT DO I DO????

When you have a drive that is messed up, Linux MBR and windows doesn't like it, switching Operating systems, getting rid of old data, or for whatever reason I find it handy to pop in a linux live CD like knoppix and issue

Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=1M
(Substitute your drive parameters)
That will zero the drive from start to end. It will take a few minuets depending on drive size.

read this thread.........I have had to use the "un_tune" option to convert ext3 to ext2 so PM can re-size, move, etc.......then convert back to ext3..........it might work for you also........
