I have the problem that my boot hangs for several minutes.
After installing kernel 2.6.6 I can see that the problem seems to be
(it was the same with the old kernel (2.6.5-1.358)

hde: no response (status0xd8), resetting drive
hde: no response (status0xd8),
hde: no response (status0xd8), resetting drive
hde: no response (status0xd8),
hdg: no response (status0xd8),
hdg: no response (status0xd8), resetting drive
hde: no response (status0xd8),
hde: no response (status0xd8),
hde: no response (status0xd8), resetting drive

This takes several minutes and is kinda annnoying

I have a satadisk that might be one of these. ( I use the onboard sata on my Abit Nf7-s 2.0 (nforce2))
The disk works when I get into linux, like all other disks.

Anyone know how to solve this ?

i have the same motherboard and get the same problem with my sata stuff.... but i dont have any drive attached to the sata...

anyone know how i can stop linux checking for sata drives on boot up? I'm using a standard installation of SuSE 9.1

Mech.. have you tried to disable sata in your bios ?
