I have done every thing that I can find to read on how to get my handspring visor deluxe to sync with my RH 8.0 and yet it will not if any one can help please let me know, also what about a sony n505 minidisc player/recorder I need to get this to work with the RH 8.0 as well thank you
try jpilot (you can get it from freshmeat.net) and make sure pilot-link is installed (jpilot configure will whine if it doesnt have it, and in fact, won't work.) The easy way to get this running is install pilot-link (RH8.0 should have it installed already, but it never hurts to install it again.), and make a symbolic link to /dev/ttyS1 (or whatever port) as /dev/pilot. This should work with Visors, as it does with every other palm...the visor deluxe is serial port, correct? bring up jpilot, click sync, then press the hotsync button on the handspring cradle. it should work, let me know if it doesnt.
Ok I have done all that but the symoblic link part I have made all the usb ready and every thing else that I could find out about pilot-link and jpilot, could you tell me more about the symbolic link part that might be the key that I am missing
hmm.... did you try to soft reset your visor before synching the first time? this is sometimes known to solve visor sync problems, and if that doesn't work, try a hard reset (after synching your data somewhere else, of course). also, your error looks like its from pi_accept...try pressing the hotsync button BEFORE running the sync script.
your modules are spiffy, so that obviously isn't the problem.
oh my, i'm so sorry Ld. I was away at the store when you msg'd me. feel free to gaim me anytime i'm online; however, until next monday, i will not be in linux. (i'm at home for thanksgiving from college). windows sucks.
you said your visor still would not sync....hmm....i have a palm IIIc and it was a cinch to install....have you tried coldsync? from what i hear, it has better usb support. that error still puzzles me....its not jpilot, but rather pilot-link that is whining. hm....
i should be on aim later on tonight if you wish to talk about this in realtime.
