GUI problem!!

I have installed RedHat 8 on my Dell dimension 2350 desktp (P4, 50GB, Intel 845 G/GL integrated video Rev A.05-00). Graphic seems to be working 'reasonably' ok but
- the resolution settings do not seem to be correct as the images are comparatively larger in size(I have used 1024x768 resoltion and 32 bits color quality for Windows XP in the same pc)
- the images are blurred
- system hangs when I switch between Gnome and KDE
- give multile copies of the same image when the mouse clicked etc...

This looks to me that GUI seetings are not set up correctly or the present video/graphic driver doesn't support it or ANYTHING ELSE. Im a newbie to Linux; so any advice to resolve this is very much apprecited.

Thx in advance

You can find drivers on the intel website. More specific: Graphics Drivers and Linux* Support

Are you sure the system uses the 1024x768 resolution? Or could it be that it has been turned down to 800x600?

On my Dell GX270, the video RAM had to be increased in the BIOS settings to enable higher resolutions than 800x600 (was set to 1MB, had to be 8MB). Maybe this is the case on your system, too.

What do you mean by 'it doesn't work'? Don't you have this option or do you still get 800x600 with 8MB?
Try to update your BIOS to the newest version and make sure that the 'vga=' option in /boot/grub/menu.lst is set to the correct resolution.
