Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Grub defaults

I just installed whitebox linux. Grub is the default boot loader.

I have one issue with this, being that upon loading the bootloader it's default is highlighted on windows. If I walk away, I want it to go into linux automatically. How do I go about this?

The first title section in your grub config file is the default operating system. So move your Linux title section to be the first entry. I think that in both Mandrake and Whitebox the grub configuration file is /boot/grub/grub.conf

Here is a grub manual:

http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub.html
