Graphics card problems

It happens when I'm using a video but happens so often I don't even notice it anymore. I've started to think it's affecting my graphic card or Hard drive... Any suggestions? My computer is a mod and I started using Ubuntu after my windows XP collapsed..

Thanks for your help!

Andrew

You didn't say what videocard, distribution or module for the card you've tried. Not even mention if it was happening also in xp.

Exclamation The screen blinks randomly and often

Thank you for all of your replies. I haven't written on this platform before and must profess I don't know how to look up what modules I have. I'll give you the other information available about my computer.

I have a graphics card from Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 and the computer is an Empower Innovation, from a company that no longer exists based out of CA called PC Club. I'll be using my blog or writing something on open office and my screen will blink. Once the blinking starts, it doesn't seem to have a rhyme or reason and just continues to do so. It is worrisome and at times the computer will freeze up. I think it may also be the hard drive and I've thought about just giving it more RAM and putting a new hard drive in, but I'm not sure if the other components are worth it.

Nvidia GeForce Go 7600

so this is a laptop computer and NOT a desktop

is the laptop overheating ?
how much ram is there ?
for a 32bit system 1 Gig min is the recommended MINIMAL
with 2 gig a good average amount and 3 to 4 as a large amount

if you only have 512 meg then by all means put 1 to 2 gig in it
but if this computer is a bit to old you might think of a new one
the cost benefit of upgrading the ram VS a new computer

also just What driver are you using in ? Ubuntu? is it ?
the nvidia.run ? the deb file in the repos or the opensource nouveau
if the .run and .deb did you blacklist the "nouveau"
