Graphics Card PNY help
I got a PNY verto fx5500 and put it in my mobo (AsRock) and it was workin all well and good in windoz. I recently changed to Linux SuSe 10.0 and when i boot the boot process freezes. I have been able to confirm that it is the graph card and was wondering if anyone else had the same problem and if you know how to fix it.
Im a noob, so thanks for every1s help. |
Make sure you don't have the Riva module loaded (or riva support compiled in the kernel), or any of the nvidia modules for that matter. They conflict with the proprietary nVidia drivers.
At what point during the process does it hang? If you describe exactly what happens up to that point and how your system is configured it would be much easier to help you. |
During the boot phase i press Esc to see what is happening, and when it checks the mount points, the followin code appears:
coldplug coldplug: cleaning /events hwup :module 'lp' for device printer' processing events creating /var/log/boot.msg Then it goes no further. But when i use my intel onboard graphics it boots fine. Thanks Ryan |
I'm not familiar with the SuSE boot process, maybe you should try posting in the SuSE forum - it may be a problem there.
Are you disabling the onboard graphics in the BIOS when you're trying to boot using the PNY card? |
will do
thanks ryan |
