hey How do I install my graphics driver in Ubuntu 8.10? Its a intel 82865g graphics.
I showed my xorg.conf to a guy and he told me that my driver is either not installed or is not configured or detected

help me out.. When I change my resolution my display turns off and I cant do anything. but when I restart the resolution has changed and in the System->Preferrencces->Screen Resolution I get a "Unknown" logo displayed
so I guess my driver is not configured please help me out
Ubuntu is too slow, I'm dual booting and WinXP is far efficient than Ubuntu it is bloated. I think its because of the graphic driver not configured.....

Run this command: sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, this will start the default Debian configuration utility where you can input all relevant information such as monitor refresh rates, resolutions you want to use, graphics driver, etc. It will not write anything to xorg.conf till the end where you are asked for confirmation. Hit the enter key to accept default answers to questions you cannot answer. You may need to choose the i810 graphics driver. You can run it over and over again if you feel you need to.
According to your log the system is using the 'intel' Driver, which is the correct driver for your video card..

The most current version of that driver is 2.6.0 but your's isn't too far behind (2.4.1) and should work perfectly well for your Video card.
There is really no need to change anything. Are you having a specific problem ?
The apparently empty xorg.conf file is normal now that everything is done with autodetection by default.

I think its because of the graphic driver not configured.....
