gnomad2 and dell dj only as root

i got gnomad2 and my dell dj to work under linux (finally). gnomad2 will open as a normal user, but it wont detect my dell dj when its plugged in. ive encountered this before, so i logged in as root, and then tried gnomad2, and it detected my dell dj and i uploaded my songs. why can it only detect the dj as doot?

Same problem here and I can only assume that gnomad calls some system commands that can only be run as root. I just made an icon for it on my desktop and set the command for:

kdesu '<path to gnomad>'

When I click on it I get prompted for my root password and then it opens with root privileges.

you need to give user write privileges to /proc/bus/usb; the really easy way is to do (as root) chown root.users -R /proc/bus/usb

you can add that to your system startup scripts, or you can put this in your fstab:
none usbfs auto,gid=100 0 0

this isn't the most secure way, you can possibly edit your hotplug scripts and have it set permissions for the device only when it is plugged in, but this method works
