glxgears

My friend and I have the same graphics card, Radeon 9200se, but we have different fps's.
When I run glxgears on Fedora Core 3 I only get 143 fps while he runs the same program on Mandrake and he gets 1300 dps, Any idea how? Can I increase my fps?

[ravin@localhost ~]$ glxinfo | grep rendering
direct rendering: No
[ravin@localhost ~]$

Agh, I am guessing that is bad. Any idea how to change it?

Did a README file come with the drivers you downloaded and do they say to add anything to the xorg.conf file. I notice you said you downloaded the rpm, but was that the ATI drivers rpm or the rpm for X windows itself.

xorg probably comes with some generic drivers but you will need to download the real ones from the ATi website, this is probably the reason for your slow glxgears.
