Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L and Linux

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hello. I'm planning on using http://www.gigabyte.us/Products/Moth...me=GA-P35-DS3L
this motherboard and Kubuntu 7.10. Will it work? I've heard I should put SATA/IDE to AHCI on the BIOS. But other than that, will it work fine?

Thank you.

Hello bruno321,

I've just ordered the same board. I'd also like to know how it works with linux, but I'll test it with kubuntu and tell you how it works when it comes.

I run a P35C-DS3R - Ubuntu and ARCH run fine in 64-bit.
ACHI mode will (probably) require SATAII disks - doesn't allow my old SATA disk to be found, so I have it turned off.

Oh, I see. Then what mode should I use? I'll have a SATA, a SATA II and a PATA.

I just bought the same or derivative board, it works just fine. Remember if you want to turn on AHCI in the BIOS, make sure support for AHCI is also included in the kernel in some form (built-in or module).

I forgot what mode it is in, I believe it is in SATA or SATAII mode. I must go check sometime.
