Gigabyte GA-7NNXP Mandrake 10 network + onboard IDE prob

greets everyone!
I'm a linux newbie, I just installed Mandrake 10.0 Official, on my computer :
- AMD Athlon 3000+
- Gigabyte GA-7NNXP mobo

I have lots of drives : 2 cd/dvd drives plus 2 HDDs are connected directly to the mobo. I have 3 more drives connected that works in windows, these are connected through the onboard IDE controller thingo.

There are 2 network cards onboard : one a gigabit ethernet, the other a normal 10/100 ethernet card. I'm using the 10/100 one. The gigabit one also proved problematic anyway.

Network config : 4 computers connected to a router. router IP 192.168.0.1, mine in windows 192.168.0.2.

The problem :
1. Mandrake networking doesn't work, cannot ping anyone.
2. MCC | Mount points | partitions only displays partitions form the 2 harddisks connected directly to the mobo. "hardware" in MCC only shows those 2 as well.

help very much appreciated!

but the onboard ide controller is still a critical problem, does anyone know what to do with them?
thanks!
