Getting Xircom card to work in RedHat

After several failing attempts to get Linux on my desktop I decided to install it on my Laptop instead. A GW Solo5150, I did a complete install wiping the drive clean to install this. I thought all was well after FINALLY seeing a GUI (runlevel 5). But Kudzu seems to have missed the Ethernet portion of the Xircom card. Supposedly it is supported. But as what ? and where?
ifconfig returns only the localhost info. The Modem seems to work as I have gotten it to dial out and try to connect to a local ISP. I dont have an account but seems to transfer packets.
What am I missing , where do I put it and how ?

I am using RedHat 7.2 and KDE for the GUI. Im not very familiar with Linux's commands but comfortable in shell mode if I know where I am going and the command needed to pass at the prompt.
I am trying to either access the Internet through my ADSL connection or as a peer through the Wlndows ME box with Mlcrosofts ICS. Is there any help available here?
