Getting Winmodem (Lucent) working on PHLAK

I have done a bit of digging around in these forums, and found a bit of info, but me being as noob as noob gets ant Linux, it is very difficult to follow what ones saying. I just download PHLAK 0.3 and it runs (LiveCD)great. the problem is configuring the OS to recognize my Lucent Winmodem. i understand that i need to download a Linmodem driver, but i dont know which one. and afterwards, exactly what should i do? Can someone please help me out of this microsoft hell? Please keep as newbie friendly as possible...

Hmm... this is going to be quite an adventure if you decide to jump in with driver installation. I'm almost certain there is no Linux driver for this... but let's check the hardware compatibility list...

Hmm, there are two Lucent WinModems here. Tell me which one you have and we can progress. I have high hopes that this modem will actually work given the (relatively) shining reveiws in the HCL; otherwise I'd just tell you to just buy a hardmodem.
Good luck.

Under device manager in Windows:
Lucent WinModem PCI Slot3 (PCI Bus0, device14, function0) Rev1

So i am guessing i have a Rev1. sorry for the delay in getting back you. StPatties day was rough and i was getting ready for school. You talk about NOT using a driver installation?! If there is another way, please help. i have beein struggling trying to get Linux up and running so i can start learning it. Thanx.
