Getting Rhythmbox working with a 3rd generation ipod nano

Hopefully, I will be getting a 3rd generation nano soon. I have heard about the blocks apple put on them, disallowing anything but itunes to be used. I was wondering if anyone has a way to get around this?

Also, I am trying to convert my music and videos, so if you have any suggestions, I asked the question about the video conversion here, and about converting mp4 to mp3 here, Thank you for your help!

Your asking a question about problem you don't even know whether it exists? Well don't worry bout it I know several people how have iPods and the latest Rythmbox all you need to do is check a box to activate a plugin and the iPod works seemlessly. Same for Amarok so you pretty much covered.
