getting game-port CH F16 combat stick to work in linux

Hi,
I'd had my CH F16 combat stick (game port) for quite some time now. I just wanted to start using that on my linux box to play some cool simulation games, howeve, I can't seem to get it to work.
Here are some details:
* as I indicated, its a game-port based CH joystick.
* gameport is on a pci card that came with the mother board. it includes 2 usb2 and 1 game port
* Motherboard is Asus P5ad2 deluxe
