Getting an internet connection... Ethernet Card problem..
I am an extreme novice trying to learn Linux. I have redhat 9 installed in a computer I built specifically to install and learn linux. I have an asus a7v8x-x motherboard with the buit-in realtek 10/100 mbps ethernet card. I also installed a Jaht adapter jn-1110r32c ethernet card. I cannot get the internet to work at all. I do not how to configure card, check for problems, etc. What should I do to resolve this?
when I go to the network setting, the jaht adapter jn-1110r32c shows up as "via vt86c100a rhine-II pca" on eth0 and the realtek, which is part of the asus motherboard, shows up as r8169 on eth1
On start up, when I change network card to eth0, it says (paraphrasing) no link could be made. check cable. when I use eth1, it says card not detected.

Hi Tony Empire, welcome to lq. Please post the output of /sbin/lspci -v, and /sbin/lsmod from a terminal. What kind of network connections do you have? Have you tried running redhat-config-network, I think that's the right command?
good luck.

Well, what kind of connection do you have? Just try and map the network topology, any and all connections, the reason for two nics, etc. Any info you can post will help us help you.
good luck.
