getting a mic to work

Hi guys

I've run alsamixer and set the mic to full an changed the MM to 00, in otherwords turning the mute off

I still have problems getting my mic to work, I've loaded up KRec so i can see if any sound is getting into the system by seeing the bars move but so far no luck

Sound Out is OK as I can listen in on Ventrilo, just cant speak out

is there a visual tool I can fire up to configure my Mic settings? I'm on ubuntu 7.10 using KDE, and havent been able to find a gui config tool other than alsamixer

Thanks

J

Do you have something like mic boost? (Should be far to the right in alsa menu).
