Geforce4 Mx440 - Dual Heads - Help installing Please!!!
Hello all,
I stumbled over this forum, hoping i can get some help here.
Let me give you guys background so that you may be able to help me.
I am running 2 hd's. Main HD = WinXP Pro 2nd HD = Redhat 8.0 (full updates)
I use a diskette to boot into redhat at this moment.
PC: Xp1800+ SoundBlaster Audigy sound, 256mb ddr ram, and a GeForce 4 MX440 with 1 19in Viewsonic A90 and 1 17in CTX monitor.
Now, with lots of effort, im trying to get Xfree86 to allow dual monitors, but using ATI Radeon tutorials, i have yet to suceed. Im on a rather clean install of redhat, seeing as i got this up last night. Im sort of lost on what to do., Anyone able to help me?
Thanks a lot!!!!!

Have you checked out the binary drivers directly from Nvidia? The regular XFree support for nvidia cards has diminished significantly since Nvidia started releasing their own code.

I'm willing to bet that getting dual-head support out of the native X driver is going to be a longshot as the native X driver is so weak these days. To give 'em another try, there's Fingel's walkthrough, which is pretty good:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=50126
And the nividia checkscript that makes certain all your ducks are in a row:
ftp://ftp.p-two.net/pub/nv_check.sh
Aside from that, post what you've got as an XF86Config so far.
Cheers,
Finegan

Im trying to get the nvidia kernel running, but i get continual errors..
That is what i can see as the only way im going to manage this, that kernel supports it.. Claiming i ever get it running.. Crap linux is starting to suck more and more. I am noticing why people stay in windows...

hey don't blame linux for someone elses problem, blame nvidia for closed drivers...... if you just install the rpm's from nvidia.com you should be able to set up twinview easily enough
