hi experts i have some real trouble installing Debian on the
Fujitsu Primergy TX120s2( this one ).

in order to get the Intel® 5100 chipset to work i used the latests debian squeeze iso course the kernel needs to be past 2.6.28 .

however no hdd is detected.

the guys from wiki.debian.org claim to get it to work http://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDeb...yTX120S2/lenny my lspci output looks exactly like there's, what leads me to believe, that i may did some thing wrong setting up the raid controller.

did someone run into similar trouble or can help me with this?

You said RAID Controller. If that is a card or integrated controller in the box it may be you haven't yet gone into the controller's configuration to create any RAID LUNs so nothing is being presented by it to the OS.

I'm not familiar with the server you link and don't read German so can't tell. On a Dell server with a RAID controller like this during boot there is an opportunity to go into the controller's setup to do your disk layout. Have you checked that on this server to be sure it has LUNs already configured? If not you may need to configure them yourself.

i entered the setup for the Raidcontroler ran the wizard and it says i have a so called virtual disk on raid level 1. but still no hdd in debian setup.

u would thing u get a manual with it.

There seems to be a fair amount of documentation at the site you linked though none of it tells you much about the controller.

The wiki you linked earlier shows this is in the lspci output:
RAID bus controller [0104]: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 1078 [1000:0060] (rev 04)

That shows the RAID controller is OEMed from LSI (as is the Dell PERC I mentioned earlier). Did you see that in any output during boot? It would use the MEGARAID SAS driver. I notice on the other link they show support for RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SuSE. The former at least has that driver built into its kernel. Do you see anything during your Debian startup indicating it is choosing a MEGARAID driver of any sort?

What you might try is to downolad and install CentOS5 which is a binary compile of RHEL5 source. If it works you should be able to see which driver it used then work out how to use the same driver in Debian. I don't do much with Debian so can't give you much guidance on that.
