I have a fujitsu P7010 laptop with a built in modem running gentoo. I cant seem to get the modem to work by following tutorials like the one below. I have serial set up but minicom does not give me any info. The commands in the tutorial below do not seem to do anything at all. At the same time i am not even sure that it is a serial or pci modem. A few pages i have seen on the internet about P7010 laptops shows the output from lspci and there is a modem listed. My lspci output does not list anything with the word modem in it. I have been using this laptop for a few years with gentoo but never had a need to use the modem for dial up till now and i cant get it to work.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I feel like an idiot. The modem was disabled in the bios. So now lspci shows a modem and I am curently installing the slmodem driver. I think thats the right one.
