Fujitsu Lifebook - temperature sensors?

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook C2010 (1.6 GHz Pentium 4) that I'm setting up to be a server (command-line only) running Fedora 21. I'd like to make sure that it won't overheat when running full tilt and/or is managing its own temperature with fan control. Trouble is, I can't find a temperature reading!

I've tried:
Looking in BIOS setup: no temps, fan speeds, etc
acpi -V: just battery info and "Cooling 0: Processor 0 of 6"
/proc/acpi: just wakeup and lid state
/sys/bus/acpi: Doesn't seem to have temp or fan speed info
lm_sensors:
Trying family `SMSC'... Yes
Found unknown non-standard chip with ID 0x5e
Sorry, no sensors were detected.

Anything else I should try?

Hi
An antique!
So basically you don't even have "/sys/class/hwmon", right?
Btw., what's your "uname -a" and "lsmod"?

Unloading and reloading the i801 or fschmd modules doesn't change anything?
Asking because of this thread stating...
Quote:
Module fschmd is loaded at boot time by lm_sensors initialization
script, but is not working, sensors command does not show values and
/sys/class/hwmon does not contain entries. If I remove fschmd with
command "rmmod fschmd" and load it second time with "modprobe fschmd",
it starts working (sensors command shows temperatures, fans speed and so
on). If I remove it with rmmod and load 3rd time, it does not work. If I
remove it and load 4th time, it works and so on.

So, I did it several times with same effect: 1st, 3rd, 5th time it does
not work, 2nd, 4th, 6th time it works.
This doesn't have anything to do directly with your notebook, but trying won't hurt.
Cheers

/sys/class/hwmon exists, but it's empty.

rmmod i801 says: rmmod: ERROR: Module i801 is not currently loaded

modprobe fschmd returns with no output (presumably successful).

I re-verified everything in my original post (except for BIOS), plus /sys/class/hwmon. No change.
I wonder what lsmod's "fujitsu_laptop" is?

Thx
Your kernel loaded automatically "i2c_i801".
What about reloading that one?

"fujitsu_laptop" is probably for hotkeys etc... .
Let me have a look in the kernel descr..., which says:
Quote:
This is a driver for laptops built by Fujitsu: │
│ │
│ * P2xxx/P5xxx/S6xxx/S7xxx series Lifebooks │
│ * Possibly other Fujitsu laptop models │
│ * Tested with S6410 and S7020 │
│ │
│ It adds support for LCD brightness control and some hotkeys.

Did rmmod i2c_i801, then modprobe i2c_i801. No output, so apparently it reloaded successfully. Rechecked - no change.

Anything else to look at, or it likely this thing just doesn't have sensors?

Maybe you want to try to download & boot a liveCD of some other distribution?
E.g. Debian & Sabayon - they originate from another "tree" and maybe maybe if one of those manages to recognize something you'll at least know that you do have some sensos => once you know that, going back to make it work in Fedora will be easy.
If Debian and Sabayon (or anything else that you choose - just not derived from Red Hat as I think that Fedora comes from it) don't detect anything then chances are very slim... .
