Forcing audio out through external loudspeakers when connected

Hello, I have CentOS 5.5 running on Gigabyte laptop W566 series.
uname -a:
Linux andreys-comp 2.6.18-194.8.1.el5xen #1 SMP Thu Jul 1 19:41:05 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Here relevant line from lspci:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)

So when I connect external loundspeaker (Genius) I hear sound both from my laptop's embedded speaker and external loundspeaker. Don't must be some autoredirectional sound system that detects loundspeakers connection and mute embedded speaker?

What I need to do for redirect sound to only one target?

Thank you for ahead.

As far as I know, this should be done by hardware. I have MSI VR601x laptop with same chipset and the moment I place headphones in external connector speakers go mute.

I never played with it, sorry. Try asking on CentOS forums, or on Red Hat bugzilla.
