Floppy Fails to mount/load
Hello once again,
As a side note to one of my other problems I posted on here, I can not also get my floppy to work. When I try to mount it it says,
Write protected, mounting in read only
wrong fs type, bad super block on fd0, or too many mounted file systems.
I have it to auto load in etc/fstab, but the disk isn't reading or on write protect. I can't use it at all and I am getting close to just loading Win on here and calling it a day.
Any help is much appreciated.
JT

what does your fstab look like? Also, do you have the write-protect lock disabled on the floppy disk?

I can't get you a text out of the fstab, but it has the floppy in there - something like:
dev/fd0 auto and so on. If you would like I can copy it here word for word later.
I have checked the disk. I have even used multiple disks to no avail. So that ain't it.

I havent read your other post, but did you build this system? If so, you might have screwed it in too tight ( that has happened to me before )

I had someone else build it. You mean I screwed in the drive too tight or the board? Thanks!

My floppy drive is screwed into the case... i think most floppy drives have 6 mounting holes, and overtightening any of them can mess up the floppy operation .... just unscrew the drive but keep the floppy and power cable connected, and see if that works.

that is how I currently have it set up. It is sitting on the side of the case. It still don't wanna work. The light stays on the whole time. I do get a floppy dir in the /mnt. But I can't do anything with the disc.

the light stays on the whole time? flip the floppy cable ... (what you think is pin one is really pin 40) and turn the computer on ... in the Bios there should be a floppy seek option, turn that on and see if the computer seeks it at boot.
