flash disk can't auto unmount in gnome fedora 7

Hi guyz, i have a problem while unmounting flash disks in gnome without root permissions. i have to sudo umount to successfully umount a flash disk.
This error message is output:

Error message:
Error org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.PermissionDeniedByPolicy

Details:
hal-storage-can-unmount-volumes-mounted-by-others refused uid 503

Also there's this weird behaviour of my fedora recongnizing only part of available free space than is actually there, cud this be a consequence of the above problem.
i really love my fedora and don't want this 2 mess it up!
