Firmware update for D-Link DI-704P Rev. B Router

According to D-Link Support the DI-704P Router/Print Server has reached End of Life and is no longer supported.

I have already looked at the Australian firmware, no thanks mate. ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DI...b3/v2.75b3.zip

Also I have found versions from Russia and Malaysia.

But the US ftp site has nothing for Rev. B. but an empty directory.
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/di704p_revB/Firmware/

So I guess what I'm looking for is a reliable archive.

Why do you care ???. Is it still doing the job ???.
If not, toss it out. I just went and looked, and I have an old 713P in my den. The repeater I was using with the 713-P died about a year ago - best thing that ever happened.
Getting a decent (new) router/print server with reasonable range and a (parallel) printer port was all too hard. Went and got a recent router, didn't need a repeater, and an (extra) cheap printer for the sewing room. Came out pretty cheap, and better solution all round.

Might be worth thinking about.

Well a good security policy always starts with keeping your system up to date. That is security rule No. 1.
Especially when you are talking about a router which could be your first line of defense against an intruder.

I'm starting to think I might try that file from Australia after all. There wouldn't be any difference between a router in Australia and one in the US would there?

I would think the local (for me) file should be o.k. - there used to some code to recognise one of our major ISPs, but shouldn't matter to you.
I never bothered with it, and got on fine.

It seems the v2.75b3.zip works just fine in the US. So far...

Get something that supports DD-WRT. My last router was a D-Link DI-624 rev C, the one famous for random rebooting. What a lump of doo. They were very quick to give it an end of life cause update after update they could not resolve the rebooting issue. Replaced by the workhorse WRT54G v3, running DD-WRT v24 standard, couldn't be happier.
You can check if your 704 has a chipset supported by DD-WRT and enough flash, however I don't see it in the supported list, so your chances are low.
