Fine tuning monitor

I am using a CRT monitor HCM780M

It feels minute flickering effect while windows XP is run

and I can make the display good by increasing vertical refreshment rate to
75 Hz.

In RHEL, the display is more pleasant than windows xp but still there is flickering effect.

Is there any way to increase the refershment rate in linux

Hi, Try right clicking the desktop, and select properties (or configure desktop in kde), you may have an applet there to change the res.

Hope that helps, Glenn

ps, you may be able to set the xorg settings with...

xorgconfig in a shell as root (admin).

You will need to know your mouse and kb as well as the graphics and monitor, usually the defaults work for most people and equipment. GW
