I have annoying problem - when I copy the files from one drive to another system tends to freeze for couple seconds and resume after that.
I rememember having this problem on my old Pentium 3 box too, but it went away, and I never found out what the problem was.
Now the problem is back on my new P4 box
I remember reading something about problems like this somwehere in web, but cannot find anything now
I tried to google on this to no avail
I would appreciate if someone gave me some hints on what might be wrong...
Thanks in advance.
Kernel 2.6.7
Hardware:
ABIT IS7 mobo with P4 2.8 prescott
PATA
Maxtor DM+9 160Gb as primary master (boot and /)
WD 200Gb as primary slave
LG DVD burner as secondary master
SATA
WD 200Gb SATA drive
(I had crashes under heavy load when I had 2 drives connected to onboard SATA, but with one drive it doesnt seem to cause any)
SiI0680 IDE PCI card
Maxtor DM+9 60Gb as primary master
IBM DeathStar 60Gb as secondary master
(in software RAID0)
SiI4112 SATA PCI card
2x Maxtor DiamonMax +9 200Gb drives (on SiI4112 with PATA->SATA convertor boards)
2x 3com PCI 3c905C (Tornado) NIC's
DMA is enabled on all the IDE chips, kernel is configured SMP with HyperThreading scheduler optimizations, SATA driver is used for SiI4112 (I had to change driver for SiI0680 not to detect this card, so SATA driver in SCSI section can find it instead).
