fglrx ATI Driver Issues

I'm running KnoppMyth and trying to install an ATI Radeon X300 SE graphics card. I installed the proprietary ATI drivers v8.34.8 using the installer but the driver will not load. Loading X shows this error:
Code:

(==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Thu Mar  8 00:31:04 2007
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"

(EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so
(EE) Failed to load module "fglrx" (loader failed, 7)

I tried compiling the drivers myself and the script fails with this error:
Code:

Any help is appreciated. Being a Linux nubie I'm completely lost on how to go about resolving this.

Did you install the kernel headers/sources first? It looks as if the installer can't find them.

Success!! Thank you so much!

Now that fglrx drivers have loaded I'm getting a great picture on my monitor, but when I use TV out to watch video the picture is stretched vertically and I loose about a third of the picture off the bottom of the screen. Only when watching video and only on the TV. Video is perfect on the monitor and anything that isn't video looks great on both...

I may have to move this to a new thread/forum. Thanks in advance for any help.

Let me post my xorg.conf file because I'm 90% sure that this is where my problem is. I was getting an error loading DRI so I commented it out. I don't think I'm getting any errors now.

#      Load  "extmod" # This is okay, but if you look into "man xorg.conf" you'll find option NOT to include DGA extension with extmod, and for a good reason.. DGA causes instability as it access videoram without consulting X about it.
