Fedora9 : install linux-driver NVidia GeForce 8600M GS

I have an Acer 5920 with NVidia GeForce 8600M GS.

On the site of Nvidia I found a linux driver for this type of graph card.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d...100.14.09.html

On installing the .run-file there was an error-log created :

nvidia-installer log file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log'
creation time: Mon Oct 6 22:51:23 2008

Using: nvidia-installer ncurses user interface
-> Tagging shared libraries with chcon -t textrel_shlib_t.
-> License accepted.
-> No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel; would you li
ke the installer to attempt to download a kernel interface for your kernel f
rom the NVIDIA ftp site (ftp://download.nvidia.com)? (Answer: Yes)
ERROR: Unable to connect to download.nvidia.com (temporary DNS error (try again
later))
-> No matching precompiled kernel interface was found on the NVIDIA ftp site;
this means that the installer will need to compile a kernel interface for
your kernel.
-> Performing CC sanity check with CC="cc".
-> Performing CC version check with CC="cc".
-> Kernel source path: '/lib/modules/2.6.26.5-45.fc9.x86_64/source'
-> Kernel output path: '/lib/modules/2.6.26.5-45.fc9.x86_64/build'
ERROR: If you are using a Linux 2.4 kernel, please make sure
you either have configured kernel sources matching your
kernel or the correct set of kernel headers installed
on your system.

If you are using a Linux 2.6 kernel, please make sure
you have configured kernel sources matching your kernel
installed on your system. If you specified a separate
output directory using either the "KBUILD_OUTPUT" or
the "O" KBUILD parameter, make sure to specify this
directory with the SYSOUT environment variable or with
the equivalent nvidia-installer command line option.

Depending on where and how the kernel sources (or the
kernel headers) were installed, you may need to specify
their location with the SYSSRC environment variable or
the equivalent nvidia-installer command line option.
ERROR: Installation has failed. Please see the file
'/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for details. You may find suggestions
on fixing installation problems in the README available on the Linux
driver download page at www.nvidia.com.

More info on my kernel headers (/lib/modules) :

[root@localhost modules]# ls -l
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2008-10-06 20:47 2.6.25.11-97.fc9.x86_64
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2008-10-06 20:47 2.6.25.14-108.fc9.x86_64
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 2008-10-06 20:18 2.6.25-14.fc9.x86_64
drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 2008-10-06 21:14 2.6.26.5-45.fc9.x86_64

Can someone tell me the action that is necessary to take ?

You need to install the kernel source and headers for your running kernel.
The command 'uname -r' will give you your kernel details.
Also the link you have is not for the current driver,here's a link for the current one:

http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/linux....14.12_uk.html

Regards.
