Fedora, e1000 driver, 6 ethernet ports

I'm using Fedora Core 1.
I have the latest Intel driver e1000-5.2.52 dated 5/20/2004. I Untarred it, make installed it, and insmod ed it.

I have 2 Intel Dual 10/100/1000 82546GB chips and 1 Intel 10/100 82559 on a PC board and another 82559 on a PMC card. So I have 6 total Ethernet ports: 4 Gigabit, 2 10/100.

Now the 82546GB is virtually identical to the more common 82546EB but newer. Fedora's driver does not recognize the chip so I installed Intel's driver. So after the first install I have eth0 and eth1 that are the 10/100s. After I install the driver and reboot Kudzu finds the the 82546GB chips and allows me to configure them.

The problem is when boot is finished I only have 4 ports showing up. 2 of the 82546GB ports are list in the network configuration, 2 aren't (that is under devices). Under hardware all of them are listed but the "type" field for the ones aren't working are listed as "unknown". Also their device is like /dev/dev1234 rather than /dev/eth2 for the ones that work. Their status is ok. I can add eth4 and eth5 manual in the hardware tab but their status is configured and they give a nasty error message when you go to activate them.

So how do I fix these /dev/dev123 to be /dev/eth3 ?
