Fedora Core 6 boot No medium found No volume groups found

I have Fedora Core 6 installed on my machine along with windows XP and dual boot. Suddenly Fedora is not booting up. It gets stuck into "starting cups". When i kill the X and try to start it only on terminal it throws following message and dies :

Setting up logical volume management : /dev/hda : open failed
No medium found No volume groups found.

(I recently installed an extreader software on windows, to access some of the files on linux partition. can this be the cause? )

Any probable solutions?

PS: I am a linux newbie. I am sorry if i have posted to a wrong forum. Could not find better place.

Hi and welcome to LQ :D

There is a better place http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...aysprune=&f=35

What is the software you installed? It could be very much possible this is the cause.

Use a live cd like Knoppix, Ubuntu and check if the partitions are intact using 'fdisk -l' Post the contents here.
