Been up for the last 3 days trying to install fedora core 10 0n asus m3n78 pro mother board with AMD phenom quad core, 8GB 1066 DDR2. 4x500GB Sata drives = 2TB

This mother board has a whole slew of problems when it comes to linux installations

1. None of the distros ( FC 10, Rhat 5, FC 4 etc) can recognize the SATA drives and barf saying no media found for installation.

I tried several combos for the SATA drives to be recognized during install but did not help ( AHCI, IDE mode RAID 5) etc.

I get strange messages like...

/dev/mapper/nvidia_cffehgi
/dev/mapper/nvidia_ebjcbfa

Unable to initialize device etc...

ANy help will be appreciated.

nvidia gigabit mac

Hi, I have a similar motherboard, an m3n78-eh

Mine does not have a graphics chip on board.

I managed to install Mandriva with sata, but after install I had to change the bios to ahci.

And it booted fine, I had to allow winxp to find the new drivers, But who cares about that anyway.

Maybe some hacking could help you too.
