Fedora 9 soundproblems

Good Day, I have just recently installed Fedora 9 (3-4 days ago) and almost everything worked on-the-fly, except the sound.

And I still havn't got the sound to work yet, and it's beginning to go crucial since I'm attending this big computer festival and I need that sound to be working, I've looked across these forums in search to maybe solve the problem on my own or to read someone else's progress and solve it by that, but so far.. nothing. So I turn to you at the LinuxQuestions.org community for aid.

"Here is the output of /sbin/lspci"
00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)

"And here is the output of /sbin/lsmod | grep snd"
snd_hda_intel 457780 3
snd_seq_dummy 11524 0
snd_seq_oss 39232 0
snd_seq_midi_event 15104 1 snd_seq_oss
snd_seq 61840 5 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event
snd_seq_device 15508 3 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq
snd_pcm_oss 52096 0
snd_mixer_oss 23296 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm 86024 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm_oss
snd_timer 29584 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm
snd_page_alloc 16912 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm
snd_hwdep 16520 1 snd_hda_intel
snd 66808 16 snd_hda_intel,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd _timer,snd_hwdep
soundcore 14864 1 snd

Please help.

You need to add something to your configuration file. Your driver is correct. If your card does not work even after that then compile the latest from source and of course add something ...

See http://www.alsa-project.org or the Ubuntu forums

I had similar problems with f9.
PulseAudio is enabled by default in f9. Eventually, I didn't manage to get pulsaudio work.
I removed pulseaudio and recompiled the alsa driver.

You need to open the program to add/remove software and search for 'pulse'. Then uninstall all the pulseaudio stuff.
It shouldn't try to remove other programs as dependency. That's it.

When it comes to alsa, find your sound card here:
http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Main
and you'll have the instructions of how to do it.

Well, a lot of people like pulseaudio, I personally was never lucky with it.
