FC4 ram upgrade issues

I have an Acer Ferrari 3400 notebook with FC4 installed, worked just fine. I upgraded the ram from 512 MB, to 1.25GB, and all of a sudden it boots dead slowly, anything I need to reconfigure or do I just need to reinstall? (note: during boot, it's barely touching the hard drive)

Your kernel may not have been configured to handle that amount of memory. You may need to install a kernel that has high memory support enabled or recompile your kernel.

Hi,
Just wondering if you have any trouble with your network driver with your ferrari 3400 running on FC4. Did you do a fresh install from FC4 distro? Did you have any problem with the network driver such as not being able to grab ip address from a router and the ping is very slow?

I having problem trying to get the network to work well. So far, it only works in FC3 running kernel 2.6.9-1.667
