FC3 Hangs with trident PCI vid card

I have 2 computers with shuttle AK32V v3.1 motherboards, xp2400 procs, whatever ram. Computer A is a boot server. Computer B is a diskless boot client. I installed FC3 with a PCI trident video card in computer A, but it hung on boot after "Initializing hardware... storage network audio". I installed a Quadro 2 AGP card in computer A and it boots fine. No matter what I do, I cannot get computer A to boot FC3 with the trident card. Computer B on the other hand has the exact same bios settings and hardware. Yet it boots perfectly fine with the same trident card or the quadro card.

How do I get computer A to boot with a trident card? I have changed the kernel parameters to remove rhgb quiet, add acpi=off, nothing gets it past the hang after Initializing hardware. I have also used a different trident card with the exact same results. Ideas?

edit: load failsafe defaults for the win. guesses what caused this?

Is the version of the firmware the same?

I am a newbie, but we have run into problems with other software & OS's where the firmware versions of the BIOS itself caused boot issues. Is it possible to check which version of the firmware both cards are using?

Our scenario. Compaq Proliant DL-380s, Gen 1. Of three we tried to restore a ghost to the other two and none worked. OS would BSOD. The difference was the firmware version of the BIOS, one was 1999, the other 2000 and the last one 2001.

- Just a thought -

Both motherboards have the same BIOS version. I don't know about the video cards.
