FC2 updated kernel and lost cd burner

I've been running FC2 with kernel 2.6.4.xxx for a few months now with no problems at all. Today I used the Red Hat Network to update my kernel to 2.6.8.xxx and now my cd burner is not working. K3b, gtoaster, and xcdroast all identify my CD as a player but not a burner. All 3 programs burned fine before the kernel update.

I ran cdrecord -scanbus and I got:

I went back to kernel 2.6.4 and it doesn't recognize my burner anymore. How can I get my beloved CDR back?

Thanks for any help.

A few minutes after I posted my previous message I read this on the xcdroast.org website:

# Linux Kernel 2.6.8 broke CD-Writing:
I had several reports that the last 2.6.x kernel broke CD-Writing using the ATAPI driver. Don't update if you want to continue to use X-CD-Roast, or switch back to SCSI-emulation.

What gives?
