Fastest card for Gallium3D Radeon drivers?

Is it right that the HD6870 would be the fastest card that would work well with the OSS Gallium3D drivers? IIRC it is the fastest card based of the GCN architecture, correct?

The HD69xx cards are faster (according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...6xxx.29_series) and are supported by gallium3d.

I was mistaken but still, wouldn't the 6870 still be the better supported card?

All models up to and including HD 6870 are based on the VLIW5 architecture, HD 69xx are based on the VLIW4 architecture.

As far as I know, all HD6xxx GPUs have the same level of support in the gallium3d r600 driver. My HD6950 reports GL version 2.1, and GLSL 1.20, with "Gallium 0.4 on AMD CAYMAN" as the renderer string.
