Ethernet Disk connectivity on Xubuntu

I just bought a Lacie Ethernet Big Disk. I setup it up pretty easy and made the shares and all persmission easy. I use the cli ftp client, I can log in fine, but everytime I attempt to make changes I get "550 Persmission Denied". I can't transfer files or even make a directory. Any Suggestion or work arounds

are you trying to make changes as a normal user?

try editting your /etc/fstab for your entry and changing the likely entry from user to users

2) you can also use your filemanager in root mode to change permissions or use the cli
