boot error: pcnet_cs device eth0 does not seem to be present. delaying initialization.
background: dual boot laptop just lost hard drive, so i reinstalled xp pro and fedora core 2. the previous config was win2k and redhat 9.0. under both os everything worked flawlessly. i upgraded to xp pro and fedora and now the nic won't work. i'm using a dlink dfe-650 pcmcia nic. i've tried turning off pnp in the bios, and kudzu in fedora. still no glory. here is some output from ifconfig, lspci -v, and a copy of hwconf.

How does the ethernet port work in Windoze???
If it fails there as well, it just very well might have been fried by the same thing that took out the hard-drive. That's likely to be a bad capacitor discharging and wiping out some components...
If it works fine in windoze, then it is obviously a setup or configuration problem.
yes, the adapter works without issue in windows. any ideas where to look to fix a config problem. i've never had to manually set up hardware before, as it's usually found at install.
