Error reading CDs containg audio and data tracks

Hi

I have a problem when I insert CDs that contain both audio and data tracks. I get a little message that says:

The CD you inserted has both audio tracks and files on it.
Would you like to play the audio or browse the files?

however clicking 'browse' results in nothing happening. I can happily play the audio, and use the audiocd:/ slave in Konqueror without trouble. However, attempting to mount the CD fails, and I get this message in KDE:

/dev/hdc: Input/output error
mount: /dev/hdc: can't read superblock
Please check that the disk is entered correctly.

Typing dmesg from konsole gives me stuff along the lines of:

Buffer I/O error on device hdc, logical block 67
hdc: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdc: command error: error=0x54
end_request: I/O error, dev hdc, sector 64
Buffer I/O error on device hdc, logical block 16
hdc: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdc: command error: error=0x54
end_request: I/O error, dev hdc, sector 68
Buffer I/O error on device hdc, logical block 17
hdc: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdc: command error: error=0x54
end_request: I/O error, dev hdc, sector 0
FAT: unable to read boot sector

and so on.

Any ideas?
I am using Linux Mandrake 10.0 (kernel version 2.6.3-7)
With thanks,
