Error: No Hard Disk Found.
Motherboard: Asus P5Q
CPU: Intel Dual Core 5800 (?) Don't remember and I'm not near my documentation... 2X2GB DDR2 Corsair RAM (Set in A1 and B1) nVidia 9400 GT Low Profile Set in Video Card Slot (the blue one at the top of the PCI slots Liteon 24X DVDRW c Lightscribe SATA(Slot SATA1) Seagate 500GB HD SATA(Slot SATA4) Antek 300 Case c USB and HDSound Outputs (not connected) Antek Basiq 500W When I boot up my computer, it returns the error "No Hard Disk Found" however, when I go into Setup, there is a drive listed that (I think) matches the description but I'm not sure. It also lists a 3.5" Floppy that is most definitely NOT present. If I boot with a Kubuntu 7.04 install DVD disk, It gives me a menu and if I select install to HD it gives the load splash screen with the box that moves back and forth and then eventually fails into an error: "<big number> I/O Logic Fault 01"then the error recurs with several different big numbers. (Description of events are from memory). The HD is plugged into the power supply on the same line as the DVDRW Why won't it recognize my HD This computer is going to be dual boot 80% Vista/ 20% Some Linux Distro (probably FC10) |

On the P5Q the 4th sata port on the motherboard is meant to be pluged into a sata multipier(for sata4,5,6). If you are trying to plug directly into the 4th slot (rather than the multiplier) this may be the issue. Try plugging it into one of the other slots or plug in a port multiplier into port 4.
Edit: Assuming p5q deluxe. |

@ Lazlow, I'll give that a shot, thanks. Just for my own edification, what do you mean by SATA multiplier, is that similar to how you can have multiple USB ports joined to the same spot on the MB? |

Yeah, more or less. Part of the problem is that sata is new enough that doing things like this (the multiplier) is far from standard yet. Keep in mind that I said this MAY be the issue. |
