Error message with graphic card: i915_hangcheck_elapsed GPU hung

Hi!

My system is Red Hat Enterprise Linux workstation 6.3 (Santiago). The graphic card is MGA G200eW WPCM450 from Matrix Graphics. When running a graphic software, it shows the following message:

i915_hangcheck_elapsed *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed GPU hung

Can anyone help me?

Thank you,

Peter

i915 is the intel graphics driver. The standard answer for this is to upgrade the kernel, but as you're running RHEL and presumably paying for support, you might consider making use of it to see what your options are.

If it's onboard intel graphics and you're using the matrox card instead, then you might be able to disable the intel vga from the BIOS setup.

Knowing more about the actual hardware would be helpful...
