Err..Can not play cd from cdrom

CD loads and player starts, but I hear no sound. When I try to access the cdrom drive I get this error:

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems

what does this mean and how do I fix it.

I reckon you haven't got the cable that connects your CD drive to your sound card plugged in.

Can you play CDs if you use xine? (That will play through the pcm channel instead of the CD channel).

I got the cd to play on xine, though my xmms is screwed up and plays everything faster than it should

Your CD drive is fine then. You don't have the CD channel muted in your mixer do you? (Better check the obvious things first).
