epson perfection 3490 scanner

Hello,

i have seen this scanner that is fully supported only via avasys driver.

Does someone has ever tried epson avasys software or can tell me something?

Eg. Will i be able to use also xsane or only iscan?

And does it work with a 64 bit cpu?

Where i can find what limitation the gpl backend has? ( it says basic support )

Thank you in advance.

It has been my experience with my Epson scanners that they can use either iscan, kooka, or xsane once the proper drivers are loaded.

Thank you for the info.

I have bought it ( 89 € ).

Seem to work quite well with iscan, but i haven't yet found a way to perform a negative scan with xsane ( choosing agfa xrg 200 as negative and scanning, i obtain a red image, like watching the film with my eyes ).
