EPSON c82 printer problems with CUPS

Currently using Knoppix 3.7 and am having a problem getting a usb printer to print.

The printer is a Espon stylus C82 and is plugged into a usb port. THe printer works fine in Windows. When CUPS is configured and offers to print a test page the test page never prints. KDE will display a notification that test page was successfully sent to the printer but nothing happens (in terms of a page being physically printed). The jobs tab also does not register any job being sent to tthe printer.

TIA
